How to Make Money Online [Video]
Watch this video from my YouTube channel if you’re not in the mood of reading an article today.
Why this List is Shorter Than the Others?
I said a few lines above that there are many ways to make money on the internet. Actually, there are hundreds of ways to make money online as these Google search results explain.
Or even this one that seems to go beyond the fabric of reality. I think I’m wasting my time here I have to watch this guy’s video!
But do all of them pay well? Of course not. If you see endless lists like these consider two things happening:
- Its market is already saturated and you won’t make as much money as advertised.
- It’s an effort to gather some affiliates via a referral link which only benefits the writer.
Trust me! I’ve been in this business long enough to know who is using what scheme to make money online. There are many Ways You Should Avoid to Make Money Online!
What was the question? Why this list is shorter?
The answer is simple. Because out of hundreds and thousands of ways out there that you can make some money, 90% are usually time-wasting stupid tasks.
What I actually mean is that you won’t make enough money compared to the time you are investing to do the tasks at hand. I believe our time is more important than money. Time is much more limited than money don’t you think?
So to answer the question, I only included ways that you can use to make money online for real. I don’t want to waste your time with nonsense and I don’t want to fool people into following a referral link. Also, these are the ways that still work in 2022, so you can have a good year ahead of you hopefully.
Who Can Make Money Online?
Pretty much everyone who owns a computer and internet connection can make money online. There are some general skills you should know if you want to succeed, but you will learn them along the way.
Some skills like internet research, keyword research, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and some others, to some extent, help you to perform better.
There are also some skills that a freelancer should know, but first, you have to choose which of the following ways suits you best. Then you can start learning the required skills for that specific job.
Best Ways to Make Money Online
Here are the best ways and ideas that can result in making a good amount of money. Of course, the list can go beyond these items, but what selected here are among those that you can always make money from. Their market will never saturate, they still work in 2022, and if you try hard, you’ll definitely CAN make enough money to become a freelancer.
1. Online Freelancers’ Marketplace
The very first thing that you can do to make money online is to sell services via already-established freelancers’ marketplaces on the internet.
Choosing what to do on Upwork or what Gigs to sell on Fiverr is completely up to you. It depends on your skills and the fact that you can deliver the results online.
There are just some limitations on these marketplaces, and they are the type of services you can offer here.
If you are a graphic designer, website developer, programmer, or even a consultant, you are fine. You can easily make money on these platforms.
But if your specialties and skills involve manual labor or something that can’t be done over the internet, you’ll have to do something else to make money online.
If you are for example an electrician or plumber, you can’t deliver your job online. It has to be done on-site and in person.
Although you can consult others over the phone, you rarely find clients who are looking for consultations for such subjects.
What you can do to make money online is right here on this list. Keep reading to see what I’m talking about.
2. Start a Blog
Another great idea is to start a blog. Don’t be scared. You don’t need any special skills or even don’t need to know any programming languages.
With today’s tools and software, you just have to choose a good and exciting subject that can attract visitors and potential clients.
After all, you want to make money so your subject should be either popular by itself, or you have to make it interesting by employing some writing skills.
Starting a website and writing a blog is good for almost all people, no matter their skills and professions. Remember the electrician example.
Yes, you can write about anything, and with just a little creativity, you can attract visitors and make money by showing ads on your website.
All the skills you may need like how to work with WordPress CMS or how to cut and resize some pictures for your blog can be learned overnight by watching some YouTube videos.
To start a blog, I will write a definitive guide, but all you need is just some $10 to $50 to buy a domain and host to run your website on.
3. Start a YouTube Channel
In my opinion, one of the best ways to make money online is by starting a YouTube channel. YouTube never fails you unless you give up, which you shouldn’t.
YouTube is technically the best video-sharing platform. Everyone can create a channel on YouTube and upload videos as much as they like as long as they follow YouTube Community Guidelines.
To start a YouTube channel, consider three things:
- Choose a subject that is interesting and attracts viewers.
- Stick to the subject and don’t get distracted by other matters.
- Consistently upload on a regular basis to get more subscribers and views.
Done? Congratulations! You are now a YouTuber.
It will take some time to make money on YouTube. Your channel should be eligible for monetization. Generally, it means that you have to have at least 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time.
More criteria are also playing roles in channel monetization, but as long as you are in good standing with YouTube, you’re fine.
After that, you’ll be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program and can receive a percentage of money for every ad-view on the channel.
All you need to do is to create a channel and start making some videos. Don’t have a good camera or professional gear? That’s fine! Record with your cellphone like many YouTubers with millions of subs.
Phone cameras these days are sometimes much better than digital cameras. For starting a channel, filming with a phone camera is totally fine.
If you are scared of editing videos and may not have adequate experience, don’t worry. There are a lot of online services and even software that will edit your video the way you want with just a few clicks.
4. Publish Podcasts
Think of a YouTube channel but only sound and not on YouTube. That is how you record and publish a podcast. It’s easier than recording a video, with less equipment of course.
But you have to be more impactful. The way you talk and the subject you choose. All should be interesting because the only thing your listeners will hear is your voice.
Equipment? Just a laptop, a simple microphone, and editing software. You can also use your phone to both record and edit your podcast, so it’s not complicated at all.
If you’re looking for an idea to start publishing podcasts, host a talk show. Ask your friends to join you on your podcasts and talk about a trending topic or an interesting subject.
You can also ask a local professional to come to your show and talk about his or her professions, skills, and job, or give some advice about life. You know, things like this that are popular these days.
How to make money from publishing podcasts? Two ways, some podcast platforms already include ads in your shows and you will receive a cut.
But if they don’t, you can look for sponsors who are willing to invest in your show or even a single episode in exchange for some publicity.
5. Sell Handcrafts on Etsy
Do you have a knack for making small handcrafts? If you have a creative mind and skills for turning materials into a beautiful piece of art, then you can make money on the internet, selling your products.
One of the best marketplaces you can sell your handcrafts on is Etsy online store. Etsy is the place for all sorts of artists to sell their creations easily.
I know a lot of people who are selling on this platform. I helped them to start their store and make a business plan to make money from Etsy.
It doesn’t matter what type of handicraft or art you are creating. If they are small enough to ship easily, It’s fine to sell them online.
What you’ll need to start selling are a laptop and a camera. The phone camera is good enough so don’t panic and go out to buy a high-end DSLR.
Simply follow the instruction on the Etsy website to create your first listing and take some photographs from your product for others to see.
Also, you have to write a good catchy title and description to make people want to buy your product. It will require a little bit of SEO and keyword research, but I’m sure you’ll learn them along the way as well.
One of the best clients I had was a professional leather accessory maker. He was creating these beautiful leather handcrafts by hand and was already in business on Instagram.
But he wanted to expand his business and I helped him start his small business on Etsy. Now his listings are all around the store and his sales skyrocketed during the past few months.
6. Sell Photos & Videos Online
If you are a photography addict or have a good taste for taking nice photos, then you’re good for selling your photos online as well.
Graphic designers, artists, and all sorts of people always looking to buy some good stock photographs for their projects.
Where are they looking for them? Shutterstock, iStock, Getty Images, 500px, and even Etsy. Where you can sell your photos to them? The websites I’ve just mentioned, plus many more that you can find on the internet.
But with today’s photograph standards, you should be quite good at what you do. If your photo is a little blurry or noisy, it will be rejected. Even if they are accepted, no one will buy them.
So it is better to use a good digital camera or even a DSLR. Don’t worry, I’m not talking about high-end cameras. I simple entry-level DSLR with a default lens will do the job.
Also having some skill with photo editing software, especially when photographed with DSLR can help you deliver better images.
Besides selling stock photos, selling stock videos is also a good option to think about for two reasons:
- Less competitive market
- More profit and more money
But I have to add that recording a good stock video is a lot harder, but it is worth trying. You can sell both photos and videos at the same time, usually on the same platform.
You can also sell digitally created images such as vector, icon sets, digital paintings, etc. online on these platforms. So if you are a graphic designer or an illustrator, make sure to check the market and sell some of your designs.
For this way of making money, online skills and quality matter the most, because people will pay money for stock photos and videos that have the best quality.
Remember that low-quality stock images can be found on the internet for free, so always try to improve the quality of your photos and videos.
7. Become an Online Tutor
One of the best ways to make money online for those whose jobs cannot be done online is by becoming an online tutor.
You can transfer your knowledge by recording yourself teaching and creating a series of videos. Even if you’re not sure how to record a good high-quality video then ask a friend or pay a professional to help you do it.
Then you can sell the course online on a platform like Udemy. There are a lot of them on the internet, but the easiest and the best that I know is Udemy.
It’s the biggest market place and you can technically sell all kinds of training and teaching courses on the platform. It doesn’t matter if you are a graphic designer, a dancer, a chef, or a lawyer.
There are opportunities for everyone to sell their training course online and make some good money.
Just make sure to make a high-quality video that follows the quality guidelines of the platform you are planning to work on.
Also, make sure to deliver the course with passion as if you want to sit and watch to learn a particular skill.
Make sure to do a little research before starting to see if you can sell them and if there is a market for your specialty on the selected platform.
One other way to make money as an online tutor is to teach someone live over skype or different platforms that offer video chat. You can find some local clients who are willing to learn what you know best, and during this pandemic, they like to learn it via the internet.
As final words on how to make money online, I have to insist on this important point. Be patient and consistent. You won’t make money overnight. It’s impossible to become a professional freelancer in a day or a week.
It takes time so please be patient with whichever way you chose to make money online.
I always like to hear if you have any other realistic way to make money online. Please tell me if you have been succeeded in making money on the internet.
